Satyanarayana Swamy temple near Kakinada

  • Annavaram is a village situated in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the bank of the Pampa River. It is famous for the lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple present on the Ratnagiri hilltop. It is at a distance of 48.6kms from Kakinada and 88kms from Rajahmundry. The temple is about 3km from the Annavaram railway station. It is one of the most famous sacred places and has more popularity; the importance of the temple is second to Tirupathi in Andhra Pradesh.

    The interesting story for the construction of the temple is that one Brahmin of the village name Earanki Praksam got a dream wherein the lord appeared and said that his idol was left abandoned on the hill without worship. Then that Brahmin informed the fact to Sri Raja I.V. Ramarayanam, then zamindar of gorsa along with other villagers seen the idol on the hill worshipped it and installed. The temple was constructed in Dravidian style and the greatness of God was explained in Revakhanda of Skandhapuranam. Here Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy with Sri Anantha Lakshmi goddess on one side and Lord Siva on the other side are present. Lord Sriram is the Kshetrapalaka of this temple and there are also shrines like kanaka Durga, Vana Durga present. On the four sides of yantras, there are four deities namely Ganapathi, Sriram, Suryanarayana Swamy, Bala Tripurasundari and Maheswara Swamy. Here the shrine is constructed in two stairs, it means the lower sanctum in the base represents Lord Brahma, the upper sanctum in the top represents Lord Vishnu, and the middle portion represents Lord Siva. The idol is about 4 meters and 13 feet high which is cylindrical.

    The temple has various facilities like Kalyana mandapas and it is also famous for marriages because it is believed by the devotees that marriage here gives a happy life and Nitya pujas like Satyanarayana Swamy vratas has also done here. Every year Lakhs of people visit the temple to fulfill their wishes, worship and receive the blessings of God. On the north side of the temple, there was a sundial constructed in 1943, July which is the major attraction of south India showing the Indian standard time with easy calculations and similar to Jantar Mantar found in Delhi. There are also many attractions represents stunning beauties. Easy transportation facility is also available to visit this temple from any place. Room facilities, the accommodation also provided. The temple has beautiful sculptures and carved gopurams that improve temple beautiness. The major, tremendous thing about the temple is Satyanarayana Swamy prasadam, it is very delicious, tasty, yummy and liked by everyone and has great importance. It became one of the best-sacred places, a famous temple all over the world and remains in history.
